U.S and Japanese researchers have claimed that stem cells which were grown from mouse embryos had helped in powering a liver replacement device. The cells were used in a bio artificial liver which uses liver cells for replacing liver functions.
During the tests the cells were instrumental in saving the lives of mice which would otherwise have faced death due to liver failure. The device produced encouraging results and it resulted in survival of the animal in ninety percent of the cases.
Let me tell you that stem cells are considered to be master cells of the body and these cells have the power of transforming into any kind of cell or tissue in the body but they are being touted as controversial and are being opposed by some of the conservatives on moral grounds.
