This lan of Russia reveals where technology has taken the world to — floating nuclear plant! Yes, Russia is to build the world’s first floating nuclear plant. It is designed to provide power for remote areas.

The plant will be built at an Arctic site where atomic submarines are made, according to the contract signed. Though the plan has already kicked up several serious environmental and health concerns, work of the plant is expected to start next year on two nuclear reactors and the 144m (475ft) platform for them.

Providing heating and electricity to the Sevmash naval facility, the plant once built will be an ideal solution of power facilities to remote Arctic sites, according to Rosenergoatom chief, Sergei Obozov.

But this plant is increased concerns among environmentalists raising question on whether the plant means birth of floating Chernobyl!
