A low cost quick response disease diagnosis device has been developed by Akubio which is a Cambridge based nanotechnology firm. This wristwatch can help in early diagnosis of diseases such as meningitis and malaria. For their effort the company has received a grant of £826,000 from the government.
The wristwatch has been made from quartz crystal element used in simple wristwatches and is powered by standard batteries which makes it easier for the doctors to accurately and quickly diagnose the diseases.
This device is adept at detecting specific molecules and detecting diseases such as malaria, avian influenza, E.coli and other some types of cancer. This would certainly benefit the medical fraternity and strengthen it further towards curing diseases.
