If a major power failure occurs, or simply for restoring power, utility companies have to dispatch electricians all over the place to discover the cause of it. But, some University of Buffalo engineers have designed a better solution to it — deploying wireless ‘nanotech’ sensors for monitoring the networks and spot the exact location of a failure!
According to them, even though the technology is almost available, several years of research are still necessary before such a solution can be used by electrical companies.
