A new porous material with a new, highly open framework structure is reportedly been discovered. Can we call it new zeolite? According to Avelino Corma and his colleagues from the Politecnica University of Valencia, it is a zeolite — one of a family of materials also known as molecular sieves.

The new material is said to exhibit pore systems running in two different directions. The study is published in the current issue of the journal Nature.
