The days are gone, researchers spending hours to determine the way a cell works. It took hours for them to analyze microscope images of cells by hand. A new helping hand has come to help a researcher with all the study automatically and within a very little time.



Yes, it is a computer system, called CellTracker that tracks the protein movements within a living cell automatically analyzing a series of still digital images, captured using a microscope.



Believing that the system could speed up cell-function studies dramatically, Doug Kell at Manchester University in UK, the lead biologist involved with the project said,

Most people just fix cells [in one place], which kills their metabolism... Being able to look at live cells over time is much more helpful.
