A promising method is developed for treating ovarian tumors using light. Researchers at the University of Geneva in Switzerland have successfully done this by combining a compound produced by the plant St. John’s wort with polymeric nanoparticles.
This new construction of nano-scale may also help surgeons detect the microscopic metastatic tumors, which often remain after surgery. This lead to cancer in recurring years after initial therapy.
