The technology could potentially save lives on the battlefield



Blood loss to the extremities from injuries is a major, but preventable cause of battlefield deaths. And many deaths occur due to lack of immediate surgeries to such wounds. Yes, to treat wounded troops on the battlefield, the US military plans an innovative way by using a portable device that focuses sound waves on the wounded region to stop bleeding caused internally.



Ultrasound for treating internal bleeding caused from wounds! Yes, ultrasound is capable of sealing blood vessels, ruptured deep within the body and it need no risky surgery. The device is not like any bulky surgery equipment. It is lightweight, making it portable and designed in the way so that soldiers can operate it with minimal training.



Death and amputation of soldiers injured on the battlefield with internal bleeding can be prevented wit this new treatment, a US military presentation on the project revealed.
