Actually, in a major breakthrough researchers have come out with a gene called, DARPP-32 that they believe is strongly linked to both intelligence and one of the most common forms of madness ‘ schizophrenia.
In the light of this finding researchers have also been able to unriddle that why some of the world’s foremost minds have also suffered from mental disorder too. For instance, Nobel prize-winning mathematician John Nash kept grappling with schizophrenia.
Actually, this is not for the first time when gene DARPP-32 has been linked to mental sharpness and schizophrenia as well, because previous studies on animals have shown that DARPP-32 switches streams of information for processing by the cortex.

This study shows a strong connection between this molecule and human cognition - and perhaps with schizophrenia.
With this finding, new aspects of mental health and disorders have got explored, which would definitely help exerting more effective treatment on patients with mental and psychological disorders. Expressing somewhat alike views Marjorie Wallace, chief executive of mental health charity Sane said:
