Hand held sensing devices are expected to see more development as researchers at the Duke University have developed a new molecular fishing technique which would bring all the change. Handheld devices can safely measurer concentrations of almost any chemical substance such toxic pollutants, blood proteins and a host of other substances.
The chemical methodology founded by researchers was stated in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. In this new technique atomic force microscope (AFM) was used for observing the individual molecules and keeping a measure of force of interactions among them.
In the case of AFM there is a small cantilever arm with a sharp tip which is responsible for scanning the surface of atomic specimens and also keeping a tab on the deflection of cantilever providing information regarding the force of molecular interactions.
