Next time you won’t have to taste your food in order to find out whether it has been spoilt or not as researchers are in the process of creating a dipstick test which can help in detection of any chemicals in the food emitted by bacteria which cause disease. In case the food is spoilt the color of the dipstick changes to yellow.

In case of specific bacteria detection of food poising requires expensive kits which take a lot of time for giving out results. This disposable dipstick has been found out to be effective in detection of compounds which are generated as proteins in food and gave accurate results in the case of fresh and tinned tuna. Accurate results were revealed in ninety percent of the cases. The dipsticks even worked in cases of fruits and vegetables containing low protein levels. After these positive results the researchers are undertaking further studies for bringing this product to the market.
