
Recently launched CloudSat Satellite by NASA returned back from space after taking its first images of 3D view of clouds. The mission is a joint project with Colorado State University.
Graeme Stephens, CloudSat principal investigator and a professor at CSU Fort Collins, said,
CloudSat’s radar performed flawlessly, and although the data are still very preliminary, it provided breathtaking new views of the weather on our planet.He told that all major cloud system types were observed and radar demonstrated its ability to penetrate heaviest rainfall.
